No picture today. For some reason the program is not running. No warnings, no notices, just won't come up so I can log in. And I had picked a special picture from my vault to use today.....
UPDATE - I can post my picture now - it's working again!
the Old Guy
to explain my title
Mom and Dad are often unavailable. They live in a very old section of town and their phone lines are almost original equipment. All it takes is a light rain and their land-line phone can be down for days. They both have top of the line cell phones, but neglect them horribly. If they happen to know where they left them last - odds are the batteries are dead.
Jeff called to ask if I had heard from them or knew how to get hold of them. When my brothers call for this request (which is frequent), it means drive over to their house and see if they died and no one has just found the bodies yet. I figure the folks are watching my blog close for baby news (as is everyone else). It worked. Almost. Mom called us to see why they needed to call Jeff and Tina.
Jeff and Tina
They are in their new home now! And are suffering from new home owner blues. It seems they have had no lights since yesterday. All the appliances work, the furnace, the TV, just no lights. Strange.
I, of course, being a caring, knowing, loving sister, asked if Jeff had checked his light bulbs. Maybe they just all happened to go at once.
Hey Lil' Bro - Rand suggests plugging in a lamp.
ice story 2
Larry's arm isn't broke.
And neither is Dad's.
It seems Dad fell down their icy front steps yesterday. He gets pretty upset with Mom when stuff like this happens. Mostly because she doesn't notice when he yells for help. Mom said it wasn't like she would have helped him anyway - "I wasn't going out there on the ice!"
My "little sister", Buffy, was with him. But unlike the canine hero Lassy - she wouldn't go for help. But she did take a dump in the front yard while she had the spare time. Hey, the old guy didn't seem to be in any hurry! The front yard is quite the treat.
Of course they didn't take him to the doctor or anything. Mom said he'll live.
I pointed out this happened and they didn't even know they didn't have phone service. Calling 911 wouldn't have been possible. While we were talking, Mom did locate both of their cell phones and both, of course, had dead batteries. She could locate one charger. Once again, I need to point out calling 911 would have been impossible.
the technology is here
Rand and I occasionally discuss doing away with our land-line phone. It rings continually and is rarely ever for us. Our computer is cable.
One plus side of cell phones is individuality. Usually whoever is calling is looking only for whoever just answered. But we are of the generation of land-lines. My son Rob has never had a land-line, only cell phones. This is the case with most of his generation. I don't know if our hesitation is a slight distrust of cell phones or that our land-line is a security blanket.
No baby BooBoo yet
Trust me - it will be the lead story. One more day to get through before Sandra's appointment. The days seem to be lasting forever.

Land lines are for old people, not those who are only 28 ;p It's cheaper to use just cells, anyhoo.

I'm so honored you remembered my age!
Hi there! You said you wanted to know what happened on Lost?
We find out that Shannon and Boone are only step-siblings, and not really related. Boone and Locke continue to investigate the mysterious hatch that they can't open, and Boone wants to tell the others about it. Locke ties him up and leaves him in the jungle to think about it.
We learn that Boone came to Australia to "rescue" Shannon from her abusive boyfriend and pay him to stop seeing her. He wasn't abusing her, and Shannon was just using Boone for the money, because he knew Boone would pay him off. After this, Shannon's boyfriend left with the money, and she ran to Boone. We find out that Boone is actually in love with her, and they, erm, express their love." It's a wee bit sketchy.
Boone hears Shannon screaming, and broke free to save her. They ran through the forest from the monster, who picked up Shannon. Boone found her a while later, dead and bloodied on the rocks.
Boone goes back to camp to attack Locke, but in the middle of it, he finds out that Shannon was alive the whole time. The monster, it seems, makes people crazy and makes them imagine things. Also, there's more romantic tension between Shannon and Sayid. And...that's about it. Thanks for being a loyal reader!
