Time is flying
I've started file Lilly - week 3!
Lilly picture of the day.
Lilly Boo had her jaundace test again. This time she barely complained when the lab tech cut her. Her test showed her bilirubin is dropping. We go back again in another 48 hours.
She had her "hot tub" bath again. Lilly didn't yell a whole lot about baths when they were serious side-bath wipe downs. Now that she can go in, she loves them! This time Grandma was prepared with a diaper at the bath site.

The very long day.
Lilly's morning started after a somewhat long night entertaining us all. While Mommy was showering - Grandma bathed Lilly. Her first "dippin" bath without her cord. She looked like she was lounging in a hot tub. Silly grin on her face. This little girl liked that! As usual, I wrapped her up warmly in a towel and carried her clutched to my chest for body heat while we hurried the twenty feet to her changing table. We made it eighteen feet when Miss Lillian peed all over me! Your first instinct is to hold them out, but then she was peeing on her hardwood floor. You grab at her towel but warm pee in running through it like a sieve. And you begin to notice you pee soaked t-shirt is growing very cold and clammy. Even the dogs looked panicked! "It wasn't me! - they seemed to try to communicate! And in all this chaos you still have to decide what to lay a peeing naked baby on! I got through it. Lilly seemed amused by getting to stay free and easy for extra time. I finally got her smelling sweet, diapered, dressed in a beautiful pink outfit, and we hit the road to doc's office.
First thing we were told was to strip her down to a clean diaper so they could weigh her. We stripped her down, but had to install a clean diaper! She weighs 7lbs, 7oz; and is now 20" long. I was quite impressed with our doctor's very thorough examination of Lilly! Nothing was left unchecked. From her toes to her head.
He was somewhat concerned about her jaundice. It is pretty normal in newborn breastfed babies - but he said like like to see it decreasing more than hers had by two weeks. Also, his exam turned up an ear infection in her right ear. He was just as surprised to find it as we were to hear of it.
Though all of this Lilly was very well behaved and only hollered at him once - when he checked her right ear.
We were sent to Methodist hospital for a blood draw to check her Jaundice. The lab tech said she would have to upset Lilly a lot. It actually helps drawing blood from infants. We wished the lab tech luck with that. She had Lillian on her stomach and had her left heel in a lock hold. She was squeezing it to get the blood flowing. Through all this she said most babies start screaming. Lilly merely grunted at her. Then the lab tech cut Lilly's heel with a razor. Lilly let loose with can only be described as baby obscenities. The she stopped. The lab tech pulled on her leg to make her cry - and Lilly hollered once. And these episodes are Lilly yelling at people, it can't be described as crying. Afterwards, when we got to redress her, she let out a fart they could have heard in the waiting area. Lilly's bilirubin is up (11.2), but not alarmingly. We check it again in two days. And we are to feed her formula once a day. It will help take care of the jaundice.
We went from there to get her prescription filled for her ear infection. By the time we got home we were all beat. Lilly charmed and amazed everyone she met. And then she took a short nap with gramma.
After nap we took pictures. Her mood was fine - her look said cut the sweet and pink.

And in other news....
Willie was in a car accident this afternoon. No one was hurt.
Someone pulled out in front of him. Willie had the right of way. Messed up Will's 1985 VW Golf front passenger side tire (it blew), rim, axel, - but no real body damage. He and his passenger, Tony, were fine.
I got there before the cop. When he finally arrived, he was a disappointment. Very young guy who seemed to have a bad attitude with other young men.
map of accident area
Willie was traveling east on Hickman. The 1998 Taurus that tried to pull out of an apartment driveway (headed north) - and got their front bumper, grill, and lights ripped off. Both husband and wife were fine. They were able to drive their vehicle away.
They were also able to tell outrageous lies. The first thing they told the cop was Tony was driving, not Willie. The cop had Tony get in the driver's seat of the VW. Just like Cinderella's slipper - it only fits one very small guy - Will. Tony was pretty well jammed in there. Steering wouldn't have worked with his knees bracing it like that. Then Mr. Taurus said Will pulled out in front of them. Debris, car damage, and final parking placement disproved that. (I took pictures with my camera phone - when it became apparent the cop wasn't going to do that or take any measurements.)
The cop didn't write the Taurus driver a ticket. He said it's all "insurance business" - a fine won't help that. I was thinking of "proof of fault" myself.
The other driver left long before we did - almost hitting someone else in the process. Just before we left to follow the tow truck, the cop pointed out the building this happened in front of - had a security camera and if he discovered while watching it - Tony was driving - he would put both boys in jail and permanently impound Willie's car. I told him my son doesn't lie and the passenger obviously didn't fit the driver's seat. Plus, the boys were elated to find out the truth was on a camera! And I told him I knew as well as he knew the other driver was lying over more than one thing - and asked wasn't that worthy of a "false information" charge. Mr. Law and Order said the other driver was just confused. This 'confused soul' was a young man, about 30 years old. He wasn't confused. Willie is a very small Korean was wearing all black. Tony is an averaged size black kid who was wearing red. And he confused them? This other driver wouldn't talk to any of us, but talked to lots of friends who stopped to chat, until the police officer got there. It took the police a long time to get there. I even called after a while to make sure someone was responding. Will's car was blocking a lane of traffic and couldn't be moved. The other car was still mostly in the driveway.
And this "enforcer of the law" was threatening the boys, who were doing nothing wrong - they had just got out of school. Will was taking Tony home. The rest of his itinerary: after dropping off Tony, he was headed to North High School to do an interview for the Hoover school paper. Back to Hoover for swim practice (conferences are coming - Willie and most of the swim team are blonde again), and then work until close at Target. He did make it to work.
Willie's car got towed to the VW shop - by my doing. The cop didn't want to help call the tow truck if I could get it done.
A small annoying thing - this cop was spitting constantly. I think he was eating sunflower seeds - but still - it was gross!
So in conclusion, the police ignored physical evidence, didn't look for third party witnesses, (yes, there were some - like the person who originally called 911), continually threatened the victims in the accident, and wouldn't even write the other driver a simple driving violation like "failure to yield the right of way" - telling me it wouldn't help our insurance claim.
Time to talk to someone else to express my disappointment.
This officer could have been a fine upstanding example of justice to these young impressionable men. That didn't happen in the worst way. And some wonder why some young people have such a lack of respect for authority figures. Trust is earned - and these boys will never trust justice to prevail or protect them again.
Willie is complaining of some neck and back pain tonight after work. He is concerned he won't be able to swim the 100 fly at tomorrow's meet. Not the way he wanted to finish his senior season of swimming.

Great-Aunt Tina, cousin Wyatt, and "Great-Grandpa" Keith (I'll bet he thinks he's not near old enough for that!) all came to visit Lilly. Jeff and Marlena were also visiting.
Lilly's most recieved comment is "what a little peanut!" And she is! Her Daddy calls her 'mouse' because she's small and squeaks.
