It's over
Camper kept me up through most of the night. She was loving me to death. Bright and early we made to cool jeep ride to her appointment.
Afterwards, I went to Waukee for groceries. I have fresh fruit! Decent fruit is impossible to find in Adel.
I got the call from the vet a few hours later. Camper has come through her procedure okay. She is now spade, front de-clawed, updated on her shots and micro-chipped for identity. I will be allowed to pick her up after 3:00 pm on Thursday. The 5th wheel seems very quiet today.

Things are pretty quiet around here
The kids are back in school and most of the people coming through the KOA these days are retired and traveling at leisure.
I did my usually pool cleaning this morning and went for a swim. I haven't done a real good work our swim for awhile. It was too cold outside last week. The pool is still very chilly, (read that damn cold) but I swim hard until I can't stay warm anymore. It works for awhile. I then fall asleep in the sun while I warm up and dry off. It's a tough life I lead these days. I'm now in the office, but as I said, things are slow. I have finally figured out how to check my emails from some place other than home, but can't access my address book. I end my days with closing the office.
Rand was out for his usual visit this weekend. We really enjoy our time together these days!
Ed and Dave both have new toy haulers (5th wheels) this month.
Camper's big day is tomorrow. She will be spade and de-clawed (front only) I do agree with Danielle on "not declawing", but it isn't the furniture that is suffering - it is my legs! I was hoping to keep up by just trimming her nails, but they grow so fast!
I still will have my permanent nose scratch where she bites me awake every morning. But we can't de-tooth her. (right?)
I need to vacuum. Molasses the Ty Bear took quite a beating from Camper last night. Brown fur is everywhere. She is turning in to a very beautiful cat. Getting very sleek and healthy. Her coloring is gorgeous!
There are big fish in the pond. Last week a kid caught a 2 lb. bass. Yesterday, Dave caught a 3 lb. bass. Also last week a travelor caught a very large turtle. He asked permission to kill and clean it for turtle soup. We gave it. He offered to share - we declined.
Gabby has started kindergarten now.
Willie is still working nights.
Now that I have bit more free time, I will try to update a little more often.
It's about time for the parade of campers to begin filtering in for the evening.

I'm back for a moment
I came to visit the dogs and decided to do a quick update. I'm waiting for my APAP machine to be downloaded. They were having computer troubles. I'm to check back in a couple of hours.
I have a new (Dell) laptop, but no wireless service is available near the KOA. (I'm working to change that) I miss the world very badly! With the addition of my laptop, I journal everyday - I still need to put my thoughts somewhere.
I'm loving life as a camp worker. I have met people from all over the states and the world. the thing that amazes me most are the people who travel without a plan. They (usually a huge "class C" motorhome) pull into our park way after dark, expecting there will be a spot with full hook-ups and 50 amp service available. Then they get mad when we don't give them what they want. Sometimes all we can advise is the next campground is well over an hour down the road. Mind you, the last two weeks, were the Iowa State Fair. There was usually no room at the inn.
The dogs are doing well here at home without me. I'm still certain I made the right decision not to have them at the campground with me. I'm in and out all day long and sometimes out for hours; and they are pretty needy. And tend to have panic attacks when I'm in and out.
Camper, after a few more vet trips, is doing fine now. It was a very long road. She is suddenly growing like a weed and has more than doubled her size. She is set to be spade and de-clawed next week. The upholstery in the 5th wheel is looking forward to that. Camper is a great companion out there for me. She always wants to play when I'm home and just fine without me all day. Her favorite things are paper sacks, my step stool, and potato chips. I'm beginning to work with her on a leash.
Rand visits on weekends and occasionally during the week. We really look forward to our time together!
My Scrambler is in it's new home in Michigan.
Miss Lilly is crawling now!
